Pic of Stock Rim Painted

So I painted all four and they all look very decent in my opinion. What do you guys think? I want to do a gloss black coat or two so they will be darker. And I also want to splash some yellow but where do you guys think it would look best? I also want to do a clear coat to protect it?

In my opinion, that looks terrible right there. Not bringing you down, just not finished yet. Definitley put a few coats of gloss black on there, and then a couple coats of clearcoat.

Looks like you got your primer down though.

Yea what that is is three or four coats of primer and 3 coats of flat black... but i thought the flat black would be darker but it wasnt... haha thats why im doin the gloss.

Should I put yellow like around the lip or in those little U shaped things?

Definetly gloss black it and make sure to use a few good coats of clear coat if you dont want road grime and brake dust to take off the paint. It has to potential to turn out looking great, just take your time and let each coat dry for about 5-10 mins and it will look amazing.

Just a thought
Throw some yellow on it before you gloss black it. that way you can just paint over the yellow of you don't like it.

Ya, the flat black doesn't look the best. I would try glossy black after you do the yellow test.

So I'm guessing you took out the ford emlbem. Can you put them back? If you can I think this is going to look very cool when done.

I wouldn't go with any yellow, cause it just locks those rims to that truck. I would go all black, that way you could sell them in the future if you wanted.

Honestly I'd get them powder coated instead of painted.

I was talking to a local guy here that paints and he said that for scratch resistance, powder coating isn't all that much stronger than a good base/clearcoat system. Where powdercoating dominates is heat resistance. I don't know either way, cause I haven't done any tests myself, but I kind of believe him casue it was a pain to sand down a fairing that had base/clear on it.

i painted my rims with a semi gloss paint its way better then Powder coat cause its easy and cheaper to do and fix! no clear coat needed and if you see them looknig a lil bad after a off road trip whip out the can of paint and spray them and you have new looking rims again!

My powder coated wheels are rusting after only 2 winter seasons, but I did live in a very nasty area for some rough winter weather

And I dont do much off roading anymore...2WD anyways... so mine should stay pretty clean

That statement came from me wanting to put some yellow in them and "not wanting them to be just another set of blac rims"

But after seeing the blue??? in edge05s pic of the rims Im thinking about doin the same pattern of tyellow in mine..
