17" oem Explorer rim on 2000 2wd Ranger??
Hey all,
Just bought a 2000 2wd XLT Ranger and need new tires as well as a new rim. One of my stock 15" steel fan wheels has a damaged lip. I have a '94 Thunderbird SC that is my toy and it is time to make my Ranger a toy as well.
Im looking at 2002-2005 stock Explorer rims, the aluminum ones with the 5 star pattern. I did some forum searching and found a little info like this thread towards the bottom are pics:

I have a few questions since im new to this scene about fitment. From reading up I don't think I need spacers for my truck or do I to make these rims work? 2nd, currently my truck runs a 225/ 70/ 15 and doing the wheel and tire conversions it looks like I am in the neighborhood for a 235/ 55/ 17 if I go up to a 245 which is more what I would like the price goes way up. Do you guys think cosmetically this would look right? Will I have any rubbing issues? 3rd, will I have any issues with the hub/spindle poking the the center of the wheel? 4th, the current stock steel wheels look a little odd as they sit in from the fender, do you think with this setup will the rim/tire combo come more flush with the fender?
Last, threw Craigslist or ebay how much do you think is fair value for a set of 4 used rims is? I daily drive my Ranger and put alot of highway miles on it. So super mods are kind of out of the question but I am entertaining either a 1" or 2" drop or lift. If I have to do spacers with this rim combo I will probably pass on it with the amount of miles I drive. Thats my major concern! Thank you for ALL your help guys and I cant wait to dive into modding my new toy!
Thanks,
Brandon

you wont have an issue fitment wise, i have the 16" version of that wheel on my 2006 2wd, the center caps don't poke thru...
as far as the tire is concerned, what do you plan on for your truck? lift, lower? if you plan on keeping it stock, it will look alright, maybe even bump up the tire size a little to fill the wheel gap
here is my 2006 with the ranger versoin of that wheel

4/5 with a 225/60/16

Hey,
Ah perfect, thanks for the pics. That helps see it alot. I found this pic from EricRanger. My truck is exactly like his....extended cab, gunmetal color, same body style. I think im leaning towards a 1 to 2" body lift with 17" wheels (I think EricRanger's are 16") and just crank up to a taller tire to help fill out the body lift. But I still need to stick with a highway tire with the mileage I drive, bummer!

Hey,
I found this listing on Craigslist that seems like a good deal. Need to find out if the price is for a set of 4 but they are asking $300 but the rims currently have 275 60 17 tires on them now. I dont think they will fit or clear but what do you all think?
