whats the difference

i have a 93 ext cab ranger with a 3.0 in it and automatic tranny with 3.73 gears the tires that were on it was 235/75/15 michelin xc7 i think i know it was a highway looking tire it didnt even look a/t anyway i jus bought a set of m/t from the local pepboys same size as my old tires and i dropped 5 mpgs i was wondering why? i did expect a drop in mpgs but i didnt expect anything more 2

m/t's are generally a heavier tire... but i wouldnt see any reason in it dropping your milege that much.

hmmm odd. how big were the mt's? same 235/75?

i can see 2 or even 3 mpg loss but thats quite a bit. maybe something else is going on? just happened to be when you did the tires?

yea its the same 235/75...i dont know what else it could be everythng else seems the same

MT tires are quite a bit heavier.

bought some 30x9.50 mts and they weighed more than my rims and old tires combined my milage has dropped some but i havent had the time to figure out the actual milage loss yet
