from 27's to 30's///speedo

i didnt want to hijack the other thread....

im gunna put on some 30's in like late may/june, and im going from 225/70/15 to 30/9.5/15, and as someone mentioned 31's is a 15% increase in size and my speedo would be off by 12%...

so whats the best way to get the speedo corrected? how much is it?

You should be able to have it changed in the computer.. without the tru speed calibrator
from superlift...
Mine came stock with bigger tires than that.

You don't get out of speeding tickets with equipment violations anymore except in rare cases. When I worked for Ford I changed my tire size myself with the WDS but I don't know how much it would cost you to have them do that for you. Probably 1 hour of labor.

Just figure you're going 10% faster than you actually are. It's easy enough to figure.

Also, if you compute your gas mileage, figure you're getting 10% more.

Nice round figure. Actual percentage is slightly less, but not worth worrying about.

Why would he go to all that trouble? It's so close to 10 percent there's no need for an exact calculation, lol.

His speed is 30/27 times what it says with new tires on, or 1.11 times what his speedo reads.

If he reads 55 mph, that's 55 x 1.11 = 61.05 mph

If he uses a 10% he can just say, "Speedo says fifty-five, 10% is five and a half, fifty five plus five and a half equals about 61 mph".

Using 10 percent is so close, there's really no need to get out a calculator.

I'm hoping most of you have at least that much mastery of mathematics, lol...

S'okay -- I wasn't talking to you, I was talking to "garebel" who posted the tire calculator. It's a pet-peeve of mine: people reaching for computerized tools for simple problems, lol.

If he wants to get it corrected, then of course it's a dealer or programmer thing. I wasn't disagreeing with that.

And mine's in the range of 8% after gear and tire changes -- but I'm not concerned enough to program in a correction. I also just use 10% and figure it in my head.

I've gotten one speeding ticket but that's because I was deliberately speeding, not because I didn't know the speed, lol. Actually the officer gave me a ticket for something like "unsafe speed for conditions" which was a lesser ticket with no points, so I actually got off easy.

i don't give a **** about your pet peeves, i was not talking to you.
also, it was a temporary thing so not getting a ticket until he was able to get it fixed and/or not.
