Winter Wheels

I have a 2021 2.3L 4x4 Supercab Ranger. I have a set of summer tires (Sumitomo Discoverer at 255/65 ) and a set of winter tires (blizzak dm-v2). I have been swapping them out on the factory rims. I think I want steel rims for the blizzaks so I don't have to have tires mounted twice a year. I didn't realize how many measurements go into this. I typed in my VIN at ford's site and it says my wheels are 17x8. The door jam says 17 x 8. Yes these are the original wheels as I am the original owner. The Mavis guy has to be wrong. He says they are 9 inches. It's hard for me to measure myself with the tire on because I've learned you measure at the bead. I've read a couple posts here before I just started asking questions. Someone linked therangerstation dot com. That site tells me I have 17 x 8, but there's more. It has other seemingly important measurements, which i checked a couple other sites that seem to agree with these.
  • Center Bore: 93.1 mm
  • Bolt Pattern: 6×139.7 (6×5.5)
  • Wheel Offset: +55mm offset
  • Wheel Tightening Torque: 135 Nm
  • Thread Size: M12 x 1.5
So i'm guessing the bolt pattern has to be the same on the steel wheels. Not sure about the other stuff. I think the offset matters? I know negative offset can make tires stick out which i don't want. Can I buy steel or other winter wheels that are compatible for like 100-150 dollars each? Is my idea a good one? I'm open to other options. Or just link the wheels if you find some

Thanks!

17 x 8 or 17 x 9 won't matter, a tire guy should know that, 17" x 7.5" are what comes up for steel rims for 2019-2023 Rangers which would be fine to replace 17 x 8, $125 each
Rims spec'ed for 2021 Rangers will have correct offset
What matters in rim/wheel width is the tire size

What are your winter tire's size?
265/65R17 was stock 17" size, Rangers also got 16" and 18" wheels/tires
These are 10" wide so OK to use 7" to 9" rim width

So you need to see what size the Winter tires are, xxx/xxR17

Yes, offset centers the tire in the wheel well based on where lugs/hub plate are in relation to wheel well

And yes lug pattern really matters a lot, lol

Just a heads up
2021 Ranger has TPMS(tire pressure monitor system) so you will also need these sensors(valve stem sensor) on the new rims and need to reset the system when you change over twice a year
When you just swap the tires as long as tire company puts wheels back on at same location then no reset would be needed

thanks, Ron.
I meant to put the size of the Blizzaks. They are 255/70r17
You said rims spec'd for 2021 rangers should be fine. I guess i don't know whever to find rims spec'd for 2021 rangers.
I forgot about the sensors. All i know is they exist. Wouldn't know how to get them for the new wheels.

Google: 2021 Ford Ranger 17" steel wheels

Google: 2021 Ford Ranger TPMS sensors

2021 might just need to be "told" to check for new sensors, look thru manual or check on line for 2021 Ranger TPMS reset

If you have a regular tire shop, i.e. you buy new tires from them, then if a tool is required they will have it, or if no tool is required they can show you the steps you need to follow twice a year

I assume they will be mounting your current snow tires to the new steel rims................ask them then
BEFORE you get a price on mounting the 4 tires, lol
