Cant get rims clean

I have the American Racing Polished Aluminium Baja's and I tired to clean it with rim cleaner and, it put a film on it that wont come off, any ideas on how to get that film off and make them shine again?

Yes, I'm with Bob -- READ THE LABEL. Some are ONLY for clearcoated wheels. They contain a caustic that's great for cleaning plastic, but actually corrodes aluminum. That's what it sounds like happened to yours.

You didn't use a scotchbrite pad did you? That'll scratch the heck out of them. I use a fine one to give my wheels a "brushed" look because I'm too lazy to keep them shiny...

Im not sure exactly what is was. My friend is a detailer and he gave me some cleaner but he thought my rims were chrome so thats probably why it just like turned white on my rim. Do yall think i can still get my rims back to there original shine if they are corroded or whatever is wrong with them?
