Well... Yeah pretty much.
Generally I would say A would be best as each tire works it's way around in each position.
But generally I take my truck somewhere and have them rotate the tires, and they just do front to back if I don't specify. If they do this a couple times and I notice the tread wearing more on one side, I have them rotate in an X pattern the next time so they are rolling the opposite direction. Usually it is noisy for the first few hundred miles after that. Whatever works and keeps them all looking uniform.
