New wheels Shake..

So, Ive got these new MT 15x10's and decently new BFG 33x12.5x15 tires... I got them mounted and balanced and it shakes like hell... I thought by buying alumn rims it would get rid of my shaking problem.. but its worse now.. steering wheel goes side to side like crap... certain speeds on the freeway it feels like my wheels are going to fall off..

Can you buy the dyna beads somewhere??

I am using my lug nuts from my crager wheels... i believe they had the same 60 degree offset crap... Should i get new lugs?

Im using my old center caps, would that throw off the rims being flush? i had to put 3 rubber bands on each one so they would seat good when torqued down..

I need some help because im about to put my truck up for sale again, i cant stand it... Take a girl out and it shakes like hell... Or havign a bad day at work and i on my way home i get pissed off because its shaking all over the place...

umm why don't you get the vehicle aligned at a shop? Ever think maybe it's not the tires?

classic II's.....

here is the place to get the Dyna Beads.....i don't think any shop has them...
http://www.innovativebalancing.com/gallery1.htm

they have a chart based on tire size.....

i would say the place that balanced them before didn't do a good job, or you threw your stick on weights already....which is a GREAT possibliity....stick ons suck...

Probably because i can put on my stock wheels and its as smooth as a stock truck...

Its my tires... It got 100x worse when i put my new wheels and tires on..

It does need an alignment im not going to rule that out... But its shaking.. means something is off balance...

Rocky

They are the MT II's

i was going to say if they were locks they may have balanced them first, then put on the rings, which will throw the blanace sometimes.

do they have stick ons only in the center on the back side? or is it inside the back towards the face and then on the backlip?

They only put weights on the inside of the rim... no stick ons... I told the guy like 5 times to do whatever he needs to do to zero them out... and thats what he did...

zero out doesnt mean all that much. i could zero out an egg, but it will still drive like crap because its not round. either take it back to them and tell them to balance them dual plane, dynamic on the backside of the wheel, or you want them to switch out your tires because they are out of round. bgfs and mt's shouldnt need much weight, and they should spin very wll together, but once in a while there is a bad tire or two. one tire with a shake, will cause the others to follow.

Rocky, either the wheels and or tires are out of round or they’re out of balance. From what you’re describing it sounds more like dynamic imbalance. To start I would check each wheel and tire for out of round before going back to the tire shop. You can do this by making a stand that you can place a tire crayon or other similar marking instrument on it to steady it. Lift each tire off the ground and place your marking stand next to the tire sidewall and slowly rotate the tire while moving the stand closer to the tire until it just starts to touch and continue to rotate through one full revolution. Do the same on the tread face and again with it lined up on the bead of the wheel lip both outboard and inboard. Now look at the marks left. They should be fairly concentric around the axis. If the marks left are small and on one side I would suspect something is out of round. If the marks left are pretty much even around the tire then there fine as far as run out go.

The other problem that can happen when they try to balance a tire is they line up both heavy sides of the wheel and tire on the same side and make for having to put lots of weights on to overcome this. This can cause a dynamic balance problem at high speeds even though the machine may say its good. Normally if you need more than a few ounces of weights on one side you would deflate and brake loose the tire and spin it 180 degrees on the rim and re-check the balance. This may need to be done several times to cut down the weight needed to properly balance a tire.

The only other thing that might cause this is a bad tire (slipped or broken belt in the tire). Short of a bulge in the sidewall or tread you wont see it but you will feel it driving down the road. It’ll feel like a side to side wobble or wheel hop. You may be able to narrow down the tire by rotating the fronts to the back and see what happens.
