Thornbirds on stock?

Anyone have any experience putting 31 10.5 Thornbird on a stock 03 edge 4wd? Ive got the 285's on the 16in rim now and was thinkin about it in the near future. I was also thinkin about a 3in body and 33's, but I dont know. Usually when I go 4wheelin I take the scottsdale....solid axles, carburated, nothing to fix when your done. Anyway I would appreciate the feedback. Thanks

talk to about anyone who's had thornbirds and they'll try and talk you out of them...i know they did me...and i rode in a truck with them and yeah, they suck...i'd get buckshot mudders...alot better, last alot longer and ALOT cheaper!!

just my .02 though

Thornbirds are disco.. all look.. no go.

I could name about 10 more dependable/better tires without even trying.
Maybe some swamper radials those are pretty streetable.. but Since you have the
other rig I'd stick with a more standard mud terrain. Cooper, goodyear, toyo, firestone whatever.

Going along with what everyone else says, Thornbirds suck. They look freaking mean, but thats about it.

Believe it or not, they are actually an All-Terrain tire. Which must mean they suck on all type's of terrain. LOL

thornbirds are do show no go. there just ment to look beefy as hell and dont do crap. the spacing between the lugs is to narrow to do anything you might as well go mudding with a Hoosier slicks...

Yeah, I saw them on an Explorer back home and they looked good just to drive around on, but of course anything Ive ever had has seen offroading. A lot of you say the suck, so Ill go without. Thanks for the feedback.

dont u ever stop spamming? i know ur trying to help but let the guy decide what he wants before trying to shove something down his throat. u remind me of the sales people at radio shack that follow u around and try to sell u a cell phone even though ur holding one and talking on it

why yes i am, im glad u noticed :wink

sounds like he wasnt looking for a set of tires, just asking how the thornturds are. besides, it was a little joke at zach, he knows i like to do this **** to him. aint like i meant it personally...if i did then i woulda been a lot harsher.

his title should be changed to "RF saleperson"

Good Deal but...

Im still thinkin bout the 33s, but it depends on if I sell my toy at home though or not. I had a buddy put 31s on his at home, they only rubbed when he went airborne. It should be the same deal for the Edge 03 shouldnt it. He had a 97 regular extended cab. Any way I have to wait till I get back to Indiana to do major mods(were takin the ferry from alaska to washington then drivin back to indiana). Any good gas milage ideas..lol

It is fun

Im in the military so we drove from Indiana up through Canada- excellent off road spots farther up the AK highway, but STEEP gas prices. I would advise the ferry though.

The only thing you might rub is the lower valance on your bumper. A slight torsion crank and your set.

you wont rub a thing, i had 32x1150 with a torsion bar crank and had to trip a tiny bit of the front valance. with 31's you'll be fine

31's should be fine.

I wouldn't take the ferry from WA to AK, it cots $1400 a person for those couple of days. Alot cheaper to drive up.

my truck is an 01 edge, and the only part that rubbed on a 31 bfg was the inside of the fender, on the loost plastic piece. but after the wheel spacers they didn't rub at all, then crankin the t-bar helped out too

i just took my thornbirds off i had 31x11x16 and yes they do look good but they ride very crappy after you get some miles on them and i was gettin 15mpg with my 4.0 i had about 20k miles on mine with about half tread left when i sold them and the guy had them on his z-71 for about 3 months and 2 of the tires started slinging chunks of rubber off them but if looks is what you want then i dont think theres a better lookin tire
