I voted Toyo because they look awesome and that's what I'd put on if I could afford them. But my INCREDIBLY close second would be the BFG MT.

Heres an idea: why don't you elaborate on what kind of terrain you ride on, and what qualities you are most looking for in a tire? All out traction on dirt/sand? On mud? How important is treadlife? What about on-road noise? I put 800-1000 highway miles on my truck a week at 80mph, so mud-tires would be completely out of the question for me (although they're out of the question anyway because I don't off-road.)

I honestly think there would be a big market for an off-road "looking" tire that was maybe only passable off-road, but was quiet on the highway and had great wear characteristics, because I think there are ALOT of poseurs out there who want an off-road looking truck, but don't EVER go off-road.

i can totaly relate to what Wowak is saying because when i first got my truck i put the mudders on and was playing with it all the time well kinda grew up a little and realized after time i started driving highway and just having to do ALOT more city driving and couldnt get out more to go play in the mud so i sayed screw it and got the BFG A/T's which are so nice now i am so spoiled by then there great in rain unlike my mudders and are alot quieter then the mutters ever where on the the freeway and alot smoother. the wear on them is GREAT had them for over 10000 and they look damn new. best tire i ever had i think i wouldnt switch now. i might have a extra set of mud tires or what not but never agian as a dialy driver on mudders.

Save yourself a bundle of bucks and get these:

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....del=Venture+MT

Here's Tirerack's comparison chart for MT's, in which they rank 3rd:

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/survey....jsp?type=ORMT

Here's the reviews people sent in to Tirerack on this tire:

http://www.tirerack.com/survey/Surve...ommentStatus=P

You can call some tire shops in your area for quotes.

personally i cant stant tire rack for one REASON they dont mount your tires so you still have to take it to a discount tire or what not to PAY to have them mounted. you know what i did. take a print out of the price on tire rack to discount tire and they will match the price and also free mount and balancing!!!

Tirerack is by far the cheapest place I've bought tires at. They cost 420 bucks for 4 31x9.5 tires to be sent up here to Juneau, compared to 600 bucks locally.

Yah, my sister now works at AML(Alaska Marine Lines shipping) so now I'm able to buy my stuff downsouth and get it shipped up.

The ranger in Juneau(almost same model as one I have now) was 1999 25k miles 3.0 4x4 fleetside XLT double cab. That was 12,500 which we could prolly argue down to 11,500.

The ranger I got in Seattle - 1999 48K miles 3.0 4x4 stepside XLT double cab. 11,500, my dad didn't argue cause he was down there ona trip and didn't have much time.

Everything is much cheaper downsouth! Ooh except for King Salmon, King Crab, halibut, and other stuff like that. I have freezers full of salmon and king crab.

Baja claws will only last 1/2 the tread life of the BFG's or x-terrains. X-terrains are alot more expensive than BFG's, and the BFG's are better in the mud than all other mentioned tires. I have about 8,000 miles on my BFG's and the only wear that they show is where they are chunking from all the rocks at tellico and my bedsides before i cut them .
