98.5 Offroad Stock Tire Configuration Question Please
I have a 98.5 Supercab 4.0 with the 4X4 Offroad Package. Can anyone tell me what the stock tire size is for this year's 16 inch wheels? I got caught-up in that Firestone fiasco. The BFG Long Trails that they swapped me over to are 23570R-16s and the tread is getting thin.
I'm thinking that these are a bit smaller than original? If so, I want to maximize the tire size using the stock rims on this stock Ranger.
I have read quite a few threads and consulted this forum's "Chart of maximum tire size ".
However without knowing what stock is-I can not make a good choice. You guys are sick of these tire size questions, but I'm a newbie here with a 9 year old truck(original Owner BTW) and it needs new tires soon. Probably get BFG ATs or maybe those BFG Rough Trails - which ever Costco can get for me.
Thanks for any help on this.
Rich

I may actually stick with this size beacuse our Ford Escape 4 wheel drive has that same size tire and wheel. That way if I spring for a pair of RUD Grippers they can be used on both vehicles.

Same here, 235/70-16 on the door
A book for factory tire sizes doesnt list it in 98 or 99 at my shop.
Im looking it the 265/75-16 and was a little worried about it fiting because everyone had bigger factory (245's) But i think I will be ok. I had one mounted and on flat ground i had about a half inch to the front pass mud flap while turning.
Checking before buying.
