1992 Machined Alloy Wheels (15x6)
These are the wheels on my truck now. To my knowledge they came on Rangers and Bronoco II's from 88-92. From the picture they look great, but really the clearcoat has failed on them a long time ago, and I am having trouble getting them to shine back up. Earlier last week I took the wheels and tires off and soaked the wheel in oven cleaner, then washed off with dawn and water. I then used a mag/aluminum polish with 0000 steel wool about 2-3 times per wheel with no avail. Is there anything else I could do to get these wheels to shine better? Maybe heavier steel wool and a different polish? The aluminum is pitted and oxidized down to the metal it looks to me. Also if I could get these wheels to shine back up (which I would like since they are "stock"), can I put 30x9.5 tires on a 6"wide wheel? Would really like to lift it even more to get 31x10.5s on there but I think I'll definitely have to have 8" wide wheels for 31x10.5s. Thanks for the help in advanced!

However, is there even a point of trying to polish them up if I want to put 30x9.5s or even 31x10.5s on a 6" wide wheel? Pretty sure I'll have to have an 8" wheel for sure with the 31x10.5s.
