265/75/16's vs 285/75/16's?

Hey guys, i'm going to be upgrading my tires right away. I'm looking for better traction, and a beefier looking tire.

I'm planning to crank my Tbars, and use rear lift shackles for a little extra ride height and clearance.

I'm curious which size of tire is best? i will be offroading the truck a bit, but it is my daily driver.

What can you guys tell me? Are the 285's alot heavier? will the 285's kill my gas mileage? etc

the 285's will help you float over snow drifts if you hit them hard. but on the other hand they will also make you more easily float when your on the road. they won't kill the mileage, but i suppose every little bit helps....

I have 285's on my truck and am consistantly getting 17mpg's. I can tell you if you plan on going off road and flexing alot, plan on them rubbing a little.

265's wont rub at all, and youll be able to flex all day. My truck is a "street queen" per say, im putting in a 3'' body lift and 315/75-16's. I dont off road so if it rubs a little on plastic on the locks I can deal with that! Plus im not a big fan of a huge wheel well gap

you gotta rember, the bigger the tire, the more it weighs, the more weight u have the less mpg ur gonna get.

you can have two rangers that are absolutely identical. One will get 17-19mpg and the other will get 15mpg. Its the way it is.

I can get my 265/70/16 to rub in the rear . On both sides the body is pulled out a tad from the tires. It's a terrible sound to hear on the trail.

Here it is on one side. I wheel a little hard though so this isn't a typical problem.
