new tires

ok so here comes the time to buy new tires as my duelers are running low after 20k miles.

i am looking for tires that are agressive and off-road, but since i go on the highways mostly to school and to friends' houses, im also looking for highway tires. is there any tires that is specifically for the highway, but also off-road and looks agressive and has a high amount of traction as well.

ive been considering the Firestone Destination M/T, Goodyear Fortera SilentArmor, the new Goodyear Wrangler SilentArmor, or Bridgestone Dueler M/T.

suggestions?

BFG A/T for sure the tread life on them is just nutz i have an easy 25000 on them and they still look brand new acully they have only warn down 3 3/32's of tread thats not bad at all

also if you want a mudder i highly recommend the Buckshot Mudder. they wont cost you much at all hell 33x12.5x15's are only $505 to your door from a member here Brian he sets up deals for people. and they last an easy 50000

copper also has a great tire its a hibryd between a M/T and an A/T its the Cooper Discoverer ST very good tire

the size i am looking for is 31x10.5R15.

i am not interested in the bfg A/Ts because of its wicked high price. keep in mind, its coming out of a 18year old's wallet!

i like the destinations because of its deep thread and technology. whats the company of the buckshots?

for 31's its just under 500 up here for BFG's that isnt bad being they will last you around 65000 miles EASY...look at it two ways buy cheap tires that wear out faster then need tires agian OR but good tires to begin with and dont have to replace them for a long time..your chioce

High Price? 31x10.5 bfg's run about $110 a tire blanaced and mounted at Costco. You should have to pay more then $450 for it at any other place.

you cant get a better tire for even close to that much. $500 max for a set, installed, and will last you minimum 35K(and i really mean a minimum!) Plus they are the best tire out there for all around performance, they look great; i mean what else do you want?

Yea and as far as highway goes, you can't hear the BFG A/T's on the highway at all, even when I turn my system off lol. Plus you have a 15" rim so they are alot cheaper lol.

ya no one has even mentioned M/T's in this thread.

and also 99% of people dont take there truck offroading every few days so M/T's arnt even worth it.

I am going to defend the BFG A/T's Honor <LOL> If I wanted a grocery store tire i would have let them put Goodyear wrangler Rt/s' on my 01 during the firestone recall. I told them give mne the cash and I went out and bought BFG's. I just ordered new 31x10.5r15's for $82 a tire. I love these tires. I do a lot of hunting and I have never gotten stuck with these tires. They do normal trail off-roading great. Plus I drive 45 miles to work one way so it is nice to have a tire that can go to 75,000 miles. I have a bubby with a '03 ZR2 and he has 85,000 miles on the Bfg's and they still pass the tread depth limit, Granted he really needs to get some new tires, but they still have legal tread at 85,000 miles and that is impressive to me. If you are doing constant standing water mud runs, these guys are all right, wou want a mud tire, but for the majority of outdoorsman this is the perfect tire. I have even been known to do some light mudding with it and have never been stuck. Granted I only take runs that I know my truck can handle.

Just my 2 cents
~HJ

p.s. I do take it to the grocery store and it handles that well too!

for mix of highway and some light off road go with the BFG A/T or a set of Bridgestone REVOS
more highway REVO - more off road BFG

My mom had 35 inch maxxis buckshots' on er superduty and they SUCKED.. the truck would drive horrible on the street and they were crappy on gravel roads or loose dirt. we put 37 nitto mud grapplers and alll of the problems went away.
