To keep the Kumhos or buy BFG A/Ts?

I'm not really sure what to do..

When I bought my Ranger last year they came with 31" Kumho Road Venture A/ts with about 3/4 tread left on them.

I'm buying Cragar D-windows soon and really would rather not spend the extra $600 to buy BFG A/Ts if not needed..but I need some convincing.

would you guys rather just keep the Kumhos and run them for another year or two and then switch the Cragar wheels or just go ahead and buy new tires along with the wheels?

Well if your tires have a useable amount of tread on them you might as well use them.

Yeah is there any reason to get the BFGs?

Primarily just to get 32" tires instead of the 31"s I have.

Stick with the 31's for a while until you have a little money to put toward the 32's and see if the tire shop will buy your 31's from you or you can sell them.

Yeah, all good points. I guess I just needed to fight the urge to get new tires. haha.

How much does the average tire shop charge for say.. taking off my tires, putting the new wheels in, and re-mounting them?

hmmm finally looked at the specs on my wheels and tires..

16x7" rims will cost me a lot more than what I was planning on. Is that the stock size for all Rangers?

You should really try to get an 8in rim. They will help your tires wear better.

How can I do that with my current tires though? Or would an 8in rim work with 265x75x16s?

Sorry I'm still kind of new to all of this.

Do a massive burnout and then get some BFG A/Ts.

Make sure to get it on video.

haha I wish. Me being only 16 severely limits my amount of money that I have to spend..

So would 16x7s really wear that bad? Enough to warrant me getting new tires completely?

You can run 265s just fine on 16x7s, don't worry about it.

Good to know. Even if they do wear faster it's not a huge deal since I'll end up replacing the tires eventually in a couple years.

The bolt pattern is still 5x4.5 on the 16x7s right? Sorry for all the questions I just don't want to order the wrong thing.

They will just wear better on a 8in. I had 285/75/16 on my stock rims and the centers of the tires wore like crap. The larger tire on the narrow rim made that happen.

Your 265's should wear just fine. If you get a bigger tire I would really consider 8in.

Yeah that does make sense about the tires wearing faster on the narrower rim. Thanks!

So 5x4.5 right? haha

265/75/16 is only a 10.5" wide tire, it will wear fine on a 16x7

Good to know. Okay sorry for being pushy but I'm ordering tonight and I just need to make sure.

Backspacing of 4.00 should be alright shouldn't it?

5x4.5 or 5x114.3, same thing. You're good on 4 backspacing, stock is 4.5 should stick out about an inch and half more.

wait to get new tires to get new wheels, remember it costs money to have them mount/remount/balance your tires
