My Boy's 2001 Edge

I'm new here and I have bought my son a 2001 4x4 edge. Well now it's time to go to work. I found this place after looking for answer's from the tire place. I know you guys have been here before but here goes. I want to put 3"BL kit on the truck with 33"x12.5" tires 15" or 16"? what are the problems with this? any rubbing issues with 16".? I like the Maxxis Buckshot tires. Dick Cepek has a new DC-1 rim due out in October that looks nice and I have read the backspace posts to learn 3.75" is the key and lug pattern of 5x4.5 is the other key. any info would help.

15's would be better then 16's because the price goes up alot from 15 to 16's

it is better to stick with 15 inch rims since there are more tires available for this size... also tires for a 15 inch rim are usually cheaper... 33x12.5x15 tires will fit without any rubbing after you put the B/L on... before the lift they may rub unless you crank the torsion bars an inch or so

Thanks guys! I am going to keep checking back for more info and help. One more thing; I am going for the exhaust Friday. Do flowmaster Series 40 or does Series 50 sound better on a 3.0 V6?

Well for the tire there will be no difference with the size rim. The 16" will look better on the large tire, but it will definitely cost you more! As for the exhaust, if you are going for sound then i suggeest the Flowmaster Original 40 Series! I have loved mine since that day i got it installed!!!

I have been there and know what is like to be young. He's a good kid with good grades, so just a little reward. If he messes up it's gone. I will turn him on to this site and let him post some picks as we go. He got roll bar, step bar, brush guard last week.

no you cant .... ranger1 also has an add a leaf and maxed out torsion bars which will make it not rub in normal driving ... any kind of pot hole or 4wheeling it will rub bad. plus maxed out torsion bars are going to be a very very stiff ride ....

Welcome Bert or as a few people may want to start calling you Dad,

lets see some pics of the truck.

If that is a 3.0 you might want to start savng up for a whipple supercharger. of course once that is on you may want his truck.

your a very nice dad i hope your son knows this! also welcome to the site. I hope you stay around. ok lets get to the gritty.

I want to put 3"BL kit on the truck with 33"x12.5" tires 15" or 16"? what are the problems with this? any rubbing issues with 16".?
a 33x12.5x15 will be a great size tire. NOW if your going to run a 3" body lift...guess what run a 15x10 rim. you wanna know why...it just looks sweet and it fits fine. I'll post pics of it in a min ok. lets move on.

I like the Maxxis Buckshot tires.
Wonderful mudder tire. it has "some" sipping on the lugs which will be better in the rain also they get an easy 55,000-65,000miles out of them. if you stay off the burn outs haha... ALSO contect Brian(BlkTremor02) he can get out 33x12.5x15 tires for i think $500 shipped from the factory...now thats just a deal

Dick Cepek has a new DC-1 rim due out in October that looks nice and I have read the backspace posts to learn 3.75" is the key and lug pattern of 5x4.5 is the other key. any info would help.
nice to know that you acully have read a little before you posted. now a 3.75 is a good clearness if you are running this size tire STOCK on the truck with out a lift because it doesnt cause alot of clearness problems BUT if you are running the body lift you can acully go with a 3.25BS would also be perfectly fine. and yes our bolt pattern is 5x4.5.

personally with a body lift and 33's I would run 15x10 (ya i know we are back on that agian)
ok here is my little Bro's truck with a 3" body lift, and Add-a-leaf, 33" buckshots, and 15x10 micky tompson wheels, and a cranked torsion bar in the front

I mean come on now doesnt that just look killer and beefy. and no a 15x10 will not cause any problems.

here is the rim on Summitracing.com its $109 each LINK

Kyle that is a smart idea for the whipple supercharger BUT....the truck is a 2001 and you cant whipple a 2001 truck its only 2002 and newer do to certain things that they changed on the motor it is not smart to whipple a 01 truck.

Yea I am to good to this kid. But when you only have one, you will about do anything to keep them on the right path. He gets his lic on the 13th the big 16. I will post some pic's of the work. That blue truck is the one that I found and liked the stance. His is a black fleet side. I am going to let him drive a while by his self before we start on the engine mods.

zach u like posting pics of my truck dont you...lol
