31x10.50 on 15x8 with 4" bs. Rubbing issue on 01' 4x4?

Title pretty much says it all. I'm looking at a set of 15x8 Soft 8's with 31x10.50 BFG ATs. The Soft 8's come in 4" or 4.75" backspacing.

I'd prefer to go with 4" to have them stick out a bit more but want to make sure they aren't going to rub. Has anyone run this combo and do they rub?

Go 4", stock is only 4.5". You'll be fine, you could run 32x11.5 if you wanted too.

Wouldn't the 32x11.50's require t-bar crank though? I'd really rather not do that if I don't have to. This thing is a road queen and I want to maintain decent ride quality.

I only cranked mine 2 turns, no decrease in road quality.

I have that setup with 3.75 backspace and they don't rub at all, and there's lots of clearance at full turn so 4" should be fine.

kidding me right? 31x10.50 is like smaller than what came on my truck from the factory with 16" alloys....

forget about getting 31x10.50s please....just go 32x11.50r15 and get 15x8 w/ 4" backspace. your truck will look exactly like this:

Dunno my 31's looks pretty big with stock suspension, damn things rub sometimes. I would have went with 32's though if I had the money.

I regret not doing 32's this last time, but oh well. If I had the money at the time I would've gotten 32's. Shouldn't rub hardly at all.

Well, 31x10.5's are bigger than the stockers. Mine has the 245/75/16's which I believe are like 30.5"x9.5.

The 32's are tempting but I really don't want ANY rubbing and I don't want to compromise ride quality at all. Honestly, I'm more worried about the width of the tires than the height. I want a wider stance.

I really wish they made a 31x11.50 in the BFG or the General Grabbers. Appreciate all the input, I'm going to have to think about what I want to do.

Alright, so I'm basically convinced to go 32x11.50's on 15x8's. However, I want to do Ultra 164's and their backspacing is 3.75 instead of the 4" of the Soft 8's. I'm guessing the 1/4" won't make a difference but wondered.

Also, when you do get rubbing, without the torsions cranked, is it on the inside or on the wells? If it's on the inside, more backspacing should actually help should it not?

Thanks for all the responses and peer pressuring me into getting bigger tires. I HOPE YOU GUYS ARE HAPPY!!!!! :)

Well, I don't plan on having the truck for that much longer so I want to be able to put it back to stock easily. Plus, I don't have the know-how or the tools to do a body lift myself and don't want to pay a shop to do one.

I'd love to do a PA 3" body lift and 33's but just not an option right now.

The lesser number of backspacing the less you have to worry about rubbing. The 3.75s will be fine.

why not 33x10.50s w/o a body lift?? they fit w/o rub and only a trim of the valence.

Original Poster: Go 32x11.50 on 15x8's with 3.75-4" backspace. crank the bars a little. trim the valence a little. you wont rub.

I agree. As long as you only do 1-1.5" crank you will be ok.

You off-road guys will cringe but I'd rather do 32x11.50 than 33x10.50 for aesthetics. That is the main reason for this is looks, not functionality.

I don't want to have to trim anything or do anything that can't be put back to stock.

I had Soft 8's with 4" BS and 31x10.5s. No problems whatsoever. Other than the fact the rims were heavy as hell and my truck drove like a tank.

Those are the 31s with no lift. They don't look small, and don't look that big.
