rubbing noise.. Maybe?
Hi. So I have an o4 edge 3.0 5spd.
296 000km. Regular maintenance untill 218 000 when I got my hands on it.
Tires went about 80-100 000 km.. So 7 years old and lumpy had a front end vibration had when going over 100-110. Replaced front tires with used tires ** and stock from my 94 explorer sport* I called ford and had them check as well as jam tire before I did this to check if rims were interchangeable. However after the swap I get a rubbing noise when turning right mostly and now after about 2000 km I'm getting a noise while turning left . the strange thing is when I turn left. If it makes a noise. And I immediately take a right turn it won't make the noise. And sometimes when I turn right the vibration/rubbing happens but when turning left it does not.
Originally only happens on gradual right turns at speed so. I assumed wheel bearing. So I replaced my front left wheel bearing and races. Did not solve anything. I'm wondering if ford was wrong about the rims. They have next to no clearance from the calioer. About 1\4" around but there's a bolt on the lower portion of the caliper with a cotter pin that has even less clearance but I can't see any clean metal and when I turn the wheel back and forth I see nothing.
Having somone sit and bounce on the hood same effect I see nothing touching the rim anytime.
Getting new tires soon but I don't think that's my issue here because the sound is so inconsistent. Sometimes gets worse it seems with heavy driving.
Just curious if I'm completely missing anything. I get by with basic know-how and YouTube. And of course the ranger forum. But everyone just screams wheel bearings. Oh btw it's rwd so not cv jount/axle. Although that's exactly what it sounds like. Somthing running over ribbed metal. .. Any helps appreciated. Thanks.

Welcome to the forum
Look at the lower ball joints
Have someone start truck and turn steering wheel left and right while you watch lower ball joints for movement.
Worn ball joint can also show odd tire wear
Stock Explorer wheels are plug and play on Rangers as far as I know
Good read here on wheels: The Ford Ranger/Bronco II Wheel Fitment Guide To Measuring Wheels
