LADIES!!!! LADIES!!!! Lets stop fighting.
Im just waiting for some good snow so I can try out my tires. I looked and my Kumho A/T's dont have a sever service rating but every where I have seen it compaired to BFG A/T's it says they do better then the BFG's. I really need to try these things out.

Well dunno 'bout ya'll, but I have Goodyear Wranglers with Silent Armor that have the little snow flake on them. We haven't had any good snow so I don't know how they'll do. And I know just cuz they have the cute little snow flake don't mean they'll be good in snow.
Not trying to be a thread thief, how would wrangler's run in the snow?
malydeen, I heard that BFG's are good tires and they work wonders off road. How much do they run per tire /set of 4?

I never said snow tires were bad, I just said they are not worth the money when you can get a set of A/T's for a bit more and run them year round.
Also there are many all season and touring tires that have a "severe service rating (ssr)". And then there are even more tires that have a M+S (mud and snow) rating.
Yes on cars they make sense but on trucks I think they are a waste of money.

Put some soy-sauce in your tank and drive the F-outta here.
I'll put myself in my LOWERED 2wd Ranger against YOU in your rice in a WNY/Canadian snow ANY DAY and bet I stay on the road a whole lot better.
Driver skill/experience is the #1 factor of all of it. The yards here are filled with all kinds of 4x4/awd cars/trucks from out of state students ( mostly southerners ) whom are under the FALSE belief that 4x4/awd will do better/save them in the snow.
I would bet you would fall into the same group from your own words.

I would beg to differ. You ever seen a winter in Canada? I can see Canada through the windows of my house and catch their snow. Theres a GOOD difference between AT type tires and snow tires.

My Wrangler RT/S's suck ***** in the snow and ice. May as well have slicks. Put in in 4 wheel drive and it's just 2 more tires with no control.

there are some interesting video's on you tube, by proffesional drivers, showing the handling and control characterisitcs betweem 2wd and 4wd in slippery and out of control conditions.
D you think a 2wd will out do a 4wd in the winter? Come up to my part of the canadian mountains and your 2wd wont even get out of the driveway let alone through a mountain pass.
Dont get me wrong, 4wd doesnt make you invisible, nor should it be an excuse to drive double the speed limit in a blizzard, but it makes a world of difference.
And ive owned a 2wd ranger for comparison.

As for getting into an accident...it wont be my fault so I won't be paying the deductible. unlike most people I drive with the conditions. I slow down I try not to use the brakes or over accelerate. If you know how to drive in the conditions you wont have any problems, no matter what tires you have.
My general rule is slow down, turn off the radio, put down the drink and give the person in front of me room. Most crashes are not 'accidents' and can be completely avoided.
They don't make them anymore, they were replaced buy the LTX A/T 2, which SUCK! They are loud and ride ruff. They dont have the greatest traction to them and they are pretty expensive.

Um, are you serious??? You do have a taco. You do realize this right?
For the other argument 4x4 is better than 4x2. However the driver is 95% of the equation. I have gone thru mud holes and climbed dirt hills that others in 4x4's could not do. This was because of driving styles. I have also gone thru mud holes and had no problems in a 4x4 while buddies with the same basic truck would get stuck.
The two big factors are tires and drivers. I love the guys that try to tell me how four-wheel drive helps you keep speed, steer, and stop in snow. They can't understand it only helps you take off.
And Mr. socal I know you say you have lived in MN. However I am forced to believe you did not live there for long if at all. This just comes from your use of the word "BRO". That’s straight up a Cali thing.
