Toyo Proxes St vs. Hankook Ventus St Rh06

Ok fellow members. I'm split between these two tires. I get them both for $406 for the set. I almost went ahead and bought the hankooks, but saw the toyo's for the same price. So, which ones are better? Couple things i like about the toyo's are the load rating (110 compared to 106 of the hankooks), tread pattern, and a rim guard. They both have the same tread wear rating.

Toyo Proxes St

Load Rating 110
Traction A
Temperature A
Performance HIGH PERFORMANCE
Tread Depth 11
Rim Width (Min/Max) 7 - 9
Section Width 10.2
Overall Diameter 29.1
Rim Protector Yes
Max PSI 50
RPM 717
Measuring Rim Width 7.5
Static Load Radius 13
Sidewall Type BW

Hankook Ventus St Rh06

Load Rating 106
Traction A
Temperature A
Performance HPAS
Tread Depth 12
Rim Width (Min/Max) 7 - 9
Section Width 10
Tread Width 8.4
Overall Diameter 29.1
Rim Protector No
Max PSI 44
RPM 714
Measuring Rim Width 7.5
Sidewall Type VSB

thanks:
Matt

I don't know anything about either tire, but if they're both pretty much similar I'd go for the Hanooks for the tread pattern.

i was reading on svtperformance forum that the hankooks on the lightnings get sticky after awhile of driving. Don't know if that a good thing or not.

I would sticky would help with traction and handling. How does it effect wear life tho?

If both tread life is the same then I'd say that's another pro for Hankook.

its the rim protector that i like very much, because my steeda ultra lights don't have that extra lip like the oem wheels hve for putting wheels weights on.

I used to run Toyo Proxes on my Eclipse, and they were a great handling, smooth as silk touring tire. Much better than either the Pirelli P series, Yokohama, or orginal factory tires. I would reccommend them.

Hankook is a Korean brand trying to make a name for themselves. They seem popular with the import crowd, but I have no experiance with their ride. I do know that Kia uses Hankook in their base Optimas, but the upper models ride on Michelin Energys. That kinda tells me something.

Something to remember.. your tires are the only thing that touches the ground on your vehical. Its the WORST place to skimp on.

Am I biased? You betcha. For having a 2003 vehical and going through 3-4 sets of tires a year, I think I have earned an opinion that says theres a reason some tires cost more then others.

I'd wait, save the cash, and aquire a *better* set of tires.

The tires your listing have been tested on all sorts of CARS, not trucks with our lame suspensions. Those tires are going to react a whole bunch different with our setups then the info given.

D.
If no tire lasts you more than 2 months you have some serious driving issues. If this were Viper forums I'd understand that. My last set of tires which were a cheap set of Dunlops went 36k without chopping or cupping. And a 3.0 sure isn't going to spin the tread off of them.
