Spare tire stuck :(

Anyone have any good ideas on how to remove my spare tire? I don't need it and can't work an exhaust around it.
The thing is... the receiver that the pry bar goes in to unwind the cable is so rusted that when I put it in there I can't get any traction. The bar just spins hopelessly around. I spent over an hour trying to bang it in with a hammer, tried cleaning it out with some rust-eater, and have completely lost patience. I have no plans on ever mounting a spare tire there ever again, so is there any way to just cut the cable and take it off? There isn't any leverage for anything like that now, so maybe can the flywheel thing that hold is secure somehow be destroyed forever and ever? I realize that the wheel well and some other various pieces are essential to the frame, I'm just trying to ditch the tire itself.

Thanks!

Wirelessly posted (Droid2)

Just cut the cable with some pliers. Just below where the support is beneath the tire.

I don't have any ideas to remove it. But how can you say 100% that you don't need a spare tire? Get rid of it and tomorrow you'll have a flat

I can't even reach the cable to cut, otherwise It would be long gone. I'm about to rent a plasma torch and cut the damn wheel to pieces, burying them in the four corners of America.

The spare wouldn't do me any good, as I have 32" tires all around and it's a 225 70r15. I have the actual spare mounted in the bed.

All you really need to cut is the center metal piece out. then drop the carrier.
