Help with Performance wheel setup
Hi Everyone, I'm a new guy who is a bit against the grain. I'm a track junkie and I bought an 05 ranger Xl 2wd as a parts hauler and I can't resist modifying it.
I'm focused on making it handle a bit better but I want the nascar look for stance so I'm planning on a 4/5 drop and some swaybars and some low offset wheels with a nice meaty tire. I've been looking at 15 and 16x8 steel wheels but to get performance tires it looks like I should be focusing on 17's instead.
I want the car to sit fairly flush with a 225 or 235 tire on it so I'm figuring I'll want 8" wide wheels, but what's a good backspacing to push the wheels out to the fenders?
I see cragar makes 17" D windows in 8" with 4.5" backspacing but I'm not sure if that will work on my truck with a 235/55/17 tire
These wheels: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/CRR-3428812/ also if anyone could come up with a weight figure for these that would be awesome.
The other option I was looking at was 15" diamond racing wheels as they're fairly light for steel wheels but the tire choices are more limited.
Any guidance would be appreciated!
