Icon5 What have you paid for 32" BFG's?

I am pricing tires for when I get new ones. They will be 32x11.5" BFG A/T's. I called one place to check out the price and he said either 165 or 175(can't remember which) mounted & balanced. Is that high? Where do you prefer to buy them from too? I know this has been covered, but...

What have you paid to have new gears installed(not including the gears)? I was told between 320ish-350ish.

Thanks for all the help!
-Mike

5 hrs labor is what their little book says it should take..... no guarantees they'll be able to do it that fast. I'd rather find a mechanic that will be honest with you and not quote you based on a time listed in a book. You don't want your mechanic to rush something like installing a gearset. Rushing a job like that could potentially cost you a lot more in the long run.

I would never have a gearset installed at a dealership.....you need to find a privately owned mechanic shop and do a little bit of talking with whoever is installing the gears. If there is a good offroad shop in your area take it them and see what the say. Don't just drop it off in a haste and expect everything to go smoothly. Ask the mechanic some questions about torque specs and such. If the mechanic seems arrogant or annoyed by the questions you ask then find someone else. Make sure the person doing to gearset isnt going in "blind" if you know what I mean. You sure as heck don't want a noob to do your gears.

Maybe its just based on the experience I've had with dealerships around here. Around here its a rare occasion to get a competent mechanic. All the right tools don't meant anything when the wrong person is using them.
