bent rim - not ranger

Was going to put this in "off topic" but I thought this might be a better place. Apparently I bent the inside of one of the rims on my Neon somehow. This happened probably close to 3 years ago but since I bought my truck I have maybe driven it 3 times since then (with stock steelie not the bent one). The lure of 30+ mpg wants me to get the car on the road again. Anywho, here is a crappy cell phone pic of the damage. Its maybe 2" long and bent out an estimated 1/4". All I know is it doesn't hold air and the tire is basically brand new. I think I had it on for maybe a month. The tire checks out fine. Its a 14" Aluminum Enkei.

I want to get this fixed so can roll on a complete set again, and was wondering if you guys knew of any negative effects of banging the rim back in place. I havn't taken it anywhere to get a professional opinion yet, just wanted to see what you guys had to say.

thanks guys

You can probably make it hold air again with a big rubber hammer. It may not be strong or balance up well but... It might hold air.

A block of wood might do it too. Just keep hitting it till it stops hissing!

i had the same problem years ago when my mom hit the curb with a Cragar SS wheel on my old car. I took the tire off, and got 2 different sized wooden blocks and a BFH. pounded it to be round again and only the outside lip was curvy if you looked close enough. You should just try that

Thanks for the replies guys. Wasn't sure if just beating it back into shape was a good idea or not. What have I got to loose.
