I was looking at 33" tires, etc for my truck. I still have oem wheels and tires. I freaked out when I looked up the weights of these things. 50-80 pounds per tire! That has to put a sizeable dent in your acceleration rate. Can you guys get out of your own way with these tires on it?

LOL not that i was going very fast to begin with, but its really not that bad. Each RIM and tire may be 50lbs but its not that much havier then the stock rim/tire dueo. I dont see the issue in weight, maybe the loss of power due to diameter or width, but not weight.

 

Ford uses 31" stock on the Level II's with the 4.0. 33" isn't THAT much larger/heavier.

yea, honistly it may be a total of 20 lbs heavier vs stock if you use the same rims.

 

I can barely pick up my tires/wheels. 38x12.50. But i dunno if it'll move yet haha.

I'm always weight conscience with any vehicle I have. It all adds up in the end. I have always been like that.

I have to keep telling myself a 4x4 is for going through ruff terrain, not going down a track. It's just tuff to add performance mods and know the tires are gonna take some of the extra power. Thanks guys.

 

yes but better tires= 100X the off-road capibility/ on road stability vs the pos stock wranglers. Plus they look better ten fold... stock looks weak

Well you should order all the great performance parts from Underdog! They will make your truck seem like it's running on 31"s again!

I regeared and my 3.0 feels fine to me. It's not that big a deal, really. I'm sure it's an effect, but having a passenger in the truck adds up to a lot more than the difference in weight between stock and oversized, I'm thinking. It's not a paralyzing loss of power, lol.

The diameter difference makes more impact than the weight. Hence, the need to regear.

So, if you subtract what the original tires weighed, how much MORE weight is it than you originally had?

 

My truck is a little slower but not by much. I would go ahead and do it man, it will be alright.
