Confused with tire sizes...

OK stock tire size for me is 225/70-15. I want a LITTLE taller, but not much. Nothing that is gonna make it much slower. What size do you suggest?

Thats a 27" tall tire

31's would be a 15% increase in size

Or about the same as going from 3.55 gears to 3.08's

(of course you have the extra weight and such of the tires)

Dude, whatz yer truck?

Ryan, he's currently running ~27.5x9R15's.. So 31x10.5R15 would be a LOT taller! His speedo will be off by something like 12%! And may not jive well if he has an XL..

The second number in the size is the aspect ratio 225/70 is 225 wide, and 70% of that tall. So increasing the width, will also increase the height if you keep the second number the same...
245/75
265/75
285/75
The 285 is the widest, AND the tallest...

235 75 15's are a good upgrade and priced from $50 up each . I had 7.00 15 lt's on my 01 ranger . No rubbing , more ground clearance and fantastic in the rain . But mud would suck with them . Stay with any of the reasonable suggestions , and have fun . Ps . mastercraft makes a pretty bad looking lt .

any taller tire will make your speedo off it may just be a little but it will be off. I have the 235.75.15's on my edge and i think that they will work well for you, i think i'm going to go a little bigger when i get somemore but i have a 3.0 with 4.10's

You will still be able to spin a tire with 30's , It doesn't make that big a difference, and you have a whopping low gear in first. You might like not being as gear bound in first too . Probably be faster than before !

235/75-15 is slightly smaller then a 30, go with that and you'll be fine. I wouldn't get 31's my 3.0 is slightly slower with them and i have 4.10s
