Bl --> cel issue

So I did the 3" bl on my buddy's 06, finished on Saturday, now he's got a cel on, don't have a code reader available at present, but is there anything we should check to see if we missed or ****ed up and that's what is causing the light?

It's PROBABLY just a coincidence, I'm thinking, no driveability issues... But cel is never good...

The fuel EVAP tube right near the driverside wheelwell in the front. Very common for it to become disconnected.

Would that cause a instant cel? One that stays on even with a restart and such? What am I looking for when looking for it?

Yes. It'll be a disconnected tube.

Right on or near the drivers fender? Sound like a vacuum leak or anything like that?

You'll have to clear it. Undo the negative battery cables, turn on the headlight switch for 30 seconds and then reconnect everything and it will be gone.

Thats if its that tube thats unplugged, it could be something else.

I know these vehicles are completely different, but in my old cavalier, if I overtightened or forgot to put my gas cap on, it would give me a CEL. I guess I wouldn't completely rule it out.

No way to do it as far as I know, I looked into it when putting my new wheels/tires on.

You have to get new bands I believe. If it were me I would just throw them all in the spare if that was possible.

The gas cap (if not sealed correctly) will give a CEL. I replaced mine because it kept throwing codes.

As for what your buddies CEL issue is, get it scanned already. OBDII code readers come with all the bells and whistles now, but there are some basic ones out there that will run you $50 on sale and will let you read/clear codes. I got mine on sale at Crappy Tire a few years back. I know Princess Auto has sales on them all the time.

As for your TMPS light........if you have aftermarket rims, it'll be there. Black electrical tape is your friend, or remove the warning light bulb. LOL

problem is, my stock rims have nitrogen in them, and my new rims have air, and i don't want to dump the nitrogen... i'll buy new sensors if i have to... but i odn't know if i can pair new ones to my truck... i can't see not being able to... being some trucks i'm sure have winter tires and summer tires... i'm going with the same basic idea

the truck with the CEL is actually mine, i just saidf it was a friends, so i could post all the new mods at once, while keeping it a secret...

i am 99% sure it was the gas line, it was dripping gas out while filling the tank, from the splice/extension, i tightened the hose clamp, problem solved, just want to get it read before i clear it again
