ok i have a question. i want to get exhaust on my truck, and i am in the next 2 weeks or so but i also want a lift. does anybody have a stock ranger with a 3" body lift on it so ill see if it will look stupid while i wait to get tires. (the reason why im waiting on the tires is that i have a friend whos selling me his tires once he lifts his truck, but i dont want to wait for him to do other stuff)

good things come to those who wait. it all depends on wut kind of tires and size you have on now.

i know someone who drives a 2wd exploder thats got 2 inches of suspension and 3 inch body on 31 bfg ats. it looks alright if the exploder wasnt so gay.

 

If you can hold off on the exhaust until after you get the lift, I would definately wait. If you get the exhaust done first then the body lift, you will probably need to go back and get the exhaust pipes rebent so they will not be hanging so low.

 

^^^only if he puts relocation brackets on the bumpers. which is a big no-no.

yea i agree with others. Wait until you get the bodylift to get the exhaust. Will come out much cleaner.

And in regards to teh brackets. The only i problem with relocating the bumper to the new position is that you loosing load capacity. ITs not really suitable for towing or anything anymore more. But id rather do that, and get a hitch than leave that gap.

no ive seen that and i really dont like it.. with the bumper so low it looks lower then it is.. and dimond plate doesnt look that good imo...

 

Definately do the body lift first. I remember one guy had exhaust before the BL and afterwards it looked terrible, then they had trouble raising it up because the spare (someone chime in...) was in the way i believe.

The bumper was never good for much in the way of towing anyway, and it looks downright stupid with the bumper lower than the bed. I esp. hate Rams with bodylifts and non-corrected rear bumpers.

 

Yeah, the bumper is pretty much worthless for towing. Just raise the bumper up and get a real hitch. I believe that someone modded a hitch so that it would sit up under the bumper like regular. Can't remember who it was though. I want to say that it was SUPERGILDO but don't quote me on that.

 

I agree with wowak and everyone else who said that body lifted trucks just dont look right without the rear bumper raised. Also, wait on the exhaust until after the body lift

 

what would a 3" bl look like with 265/75-16's?

 

Kinda silly. You need a 33" tire to look right with the bodylift.

Yup.. they look a little on the small side for a lifted truck. Thats just about the exact same overall size as my 265/70R17s, and mine look big on stock suspension.

 

Well yea they were until I got some 33x12.50's.

 

Which was exactly what I said looked best with a body lift to start with.

 

Did you guys install the body lift yourself(im sure you did) or did you get it installed? how do you get the body off of the frame?? i called a couple places yesterday and they said if they installed it it would be 480 dollars!! i thought that was steep.

 

I did mine myself, i did it in between jobs at work so i used one of our rotary lifts to pick up each side of the body. But if you do it at home just use a good floor jack with a good sized (4x4 or 6x6) block of wood so as to not do damage to the body. Took me about 2 days, since i didn't work on it the whole time straight through.

Make sure you soak the factory body bolts with rust penetrant before you try and take them loose, on of the welded in nuts broke loose and it took me a half hour to figure out how to hold the damn thing still to loosen it.
