Body Lift conclusion

We did it ! It was worth it !

I little bit of blood, a few tears, lots of sweet a few "you [email protected]", a few "I need a bigger hammer" and a few "we never should have started this" but we did it, its DONE !

Saturday start 7:00 am - 11:30 pm

Removed front bumper
Removed rear bumper
2 rear bumper bolts became one with socket
Broken 1 body mount bushing
Cut the head off of the front 2 mount bolt

Sunday 10:30ish am - 2:00 am(yes I was at work 4 hours after finishing)

Lifted body
lifted bed
drilled out and tapped the body mount bushing
re-installed front bumper with lifting bracket
Figured out we could not re-install rear bumper with lifting bracket, 04 bumper bracket is different then what the directions show
finished all the minor things

And took it for a test drive.

All in all it was worth it. It looks mean, getting in and out you can feel the difference, the shifter extension will take some getting use to.

Well it was Winks truck we did the lift on not mine I am doing mine not this weekend but next weekend, winks headed home, well maybe straight to work at the rate we were going. So no 35 pics, 2 weeks they are coming. If we had time I wanted to put the 35's on just for fun and take pics but since our finish time was 1:30ish AM I did NOT get the chance. I have before and after pics at home will put them up tonight when I get home, hey he has 33's on there so it looks good. We drove it around it was worth it. Bench vise is almost a must.

All in all I would do it myself, like I am doing my own in 2 weeks. It takes a while and it is hard, and takes some skills and knowledge when thing go wrong but I am glad we did it ourselves I would NOT pay to have someone do it for me.

why didn't the rear bumper go back on???

If you have the 01-03 BL kit the rear bumper should go right on. Mine did and I have an 05.

Anyway, good job on the install. Glad I didn't have that many problems.

bolts came out vertical lifting brackets needed bolts to go in horizontal. Winks bought the lift kit used so maybe he was missing bolts or nuts or something. But his bumper brackets looked alot different then the ones in the instructions maybe the stock ones were so pose to come out horizontal.

Also how we fixed the bumper bolt that was stuck in the one socket was an easy fix, when he drove home the socket was still stuck on the bolt, we just put the ratchet back in the socket and tightened it back up, winks managed to free the one bolt from the one socket but the other I think will still be there when he got home.
