body lift ideas?

i'd like to install a two to three inch body lift on my truck. not sure whats the best way to go about doing so without completely draining my wallet... any ideas?

3" body lift, you can get one brand new from summitracing.com for around 120 bucks.

thanks. is a suspension lift along with a body lift really necessary?

MOTOunplugged 08-19-2008 09:44 PM

depends on what size tire you are wanting man

04blackedge 08-19-2008 09:46 PM

Yeah it really depends what size tire you want to run and how much you offroad.

1999Ranger 08-19-2008 09:48 PM

yeah i don't tend to off road that often. i'd prolly just run stock tires on there for now seeings how i'm still in high school and arent bringing loads of money in every week. but by keeping the normal sized tires look kinda weird with a 3 inch body lift you think?

04blackedge 08-19-2008 09:56 PM

Yeah it would. What kind of Ranger do you have 2wd or 4wd?

1999Ranger 08-19-2008 09:57 PM

4wd, extended cab, step side bed

08XLT4x4 08-19-2008 10:01 PM

yeah, if youre not gonna run larger tires, a body lift is pointless IMO

04blackedge 08-19-2008 10:02 PM

Yeah a body lift is really your only option at lifting for under 1500 bucks. Wait until you can get bigger tires though.

1999Ranger 08-19-2008 10:03 PM

thanks guys

any cons with doing just a body lift?

04blackedge 08-20-2008 10:21 PM

What do you mean? I love mine, no negatives so far.

1999Ranger 08-20-2008 10:48 PM

like nothing to look out for? and is that all you have as far as lift wise is just the body lift? no suspension or anything else

I see you have a 3 inch lift with 32x11.5 BFG All Terrain's tires with 15x8 rims. Would getting 33x12.5 BFG All Terrain's tires w/ 15x10 rims fit or would it be a little to tight?

WowMike2001 08-21-2008 01:26 AM

You would rub alot with 15x10's and 33x12.5 unless you decide to get a body lift to go along with it.

1999Ranger 08-21-2008 07:20 AM

yeah i was planning on getting a 3 inch body lift then hopefully 15x10's and 33x12.5 tires unless it would rub even with the lift, in that case i'd just settle with 32's

04blackedge 08-21-2008 10:19 AM

You'll be fine with 33s and a BL. I ran my 32s stock, I haven't gone bigger yet for monetary reasons.

thanks, now all i needa do is start saving my pennies

I have a 2" James Duff body lift in my '89 and have been very pleased. Check them out at www.Jamesduff.com They have just about everything for rangers, broncos and exploders. I think I paid like 100 bucks for mine.
