Body Lift- Need Opinons and Expertise!

alright, i just recently noticed how cheap it was to get a body lift (i always thought they were up near $500 for some reason), so i plan on getting one soon.. i've got a few questions first (yes, i searched around for a little while... but, didnt find too many answers, just pics and stories, etc...)

Basic Truck Info (FYI)- 2001 Ranger Edge 4x4 Flairside bed

alright here's a few questions... i know you guys will have most answers!

1. Bumper relocation brackets- would i have to find a set, or do they come with the kit?

2. Safari Bar- with the body and bumpers being 3" higher, would i have to make new brackets to lift the bar as well??? i know many think i should just leave it off, but, i kinda like it.. my only consideration would be light tabs, but i dunno that anyone is making them right now, so, till i find out, it's staying on!

3. Hitch- i have the factory hitch on there.. how's it going to look after the lift? do i have to lift that as well?? or is it going to stick out wierd?? if i need to lift it, is there any kit or anything for that i could buy?

4. Tires! right now i have a set of Bridgestone Dueler Revo ATs, 265/75/16s.. as it sits now, they're fine. will it look idiotic to get the body lift, and keep the 265's? i'd get new tires, but, dont have the money for that right now.. plus these tires aren't even a year old, and still have almost all of their tread left, so... i'd really rather not get rid of them.

thats it i think... thanks for any answers guys!!! if you have any other info that i might not be thinkin about, let me know! thanks!

EDIT: and oh yeah, forgot to mention that a Suspension lift is in the future, so don't worry about it only getting lifted at the body! when i do the suspension lift, then ill get some bigger tires. but, until then, i'd like to keep what i've got now.

1. They come in the kit.

2. Yes, you would have to make new brackets for it to fit after the body lift.

3. The only way to "lift" the hitch is to cut and reweld the brackets on 3" high on each side.

4. 265's will be ok with just a body lift.

Jey pretty much sums all the questions up for ya, the only thing that you did not mention was GAP Guards. I have yet to obtain some and it is needed for appearance.

Tow hooks in the front can be an issue. It looks like some bumper relocation kits relocate the bumper, but the crossmember stays where it was. This puts the tow hooks behind the valance. Winks (John) has this problem.

Yea that would be the only other issue, I left mine on the truck but Evan had the different style tow hooks and we had to take them off. The bumper would not fit with them on there.

awesome, thanks guys. zach, good to see the same tire set up with the lift, lol. i know what you mean about the icing on the cake (i love your tire stance).

and yeah, didn't think of the front tow hooks... i wish i knew how to do some metal work, this stuff would be no problem (or so i think). same goes for the hitch.. i guess noone makes a relocatoin kit for our truck's hitches???

also, how about the nerf bars along the side, are they alright? thanks again guys for all the fast responses!

The nurf bars are attached to the body, they move up with the lift.
I need mine now to hop in my truck.

and no, no one makes a kit for the trailer hitch.

good to hear abot the nurf bars... and yeah i was wondering if i got a roll pan with the hidden hitch, maybe it would work out somehow... i dunno, i'll have to wait for someone to respond again to see if it would be doable.

I think what he means is the roll pan hitch on a body lifted truck will sit in the stock location right below the bumper.

He's right. I have to trim up my front bumper to fit the hooks.

As far as that safari bar you have, it looks like it mounts to the frame of the truck, so you wouldn't have to create new brackets for it to be raised. Only thing is now its gonna sit 3 inches lower from the bumper.

And i hope you are happy, cause i forgot that i had to raise the hood up higher and i JUST scratched my hood with the bar to hold it up. Looks like it will buff out tho

Havent had to change them yet, but it looks like it should be really easy if you go through the wheel well.
