Some Body Please Help

Ok i just recently purchased a 1994 ford ranger xl. My stepdad gave me these 15x8 eagle alloys. I like the rims but i want to lower the truck to fill in the wheel wells but he is convinced that if i lower it less than an inch in the front whenever i turn evrything is going to rub. But i've been looking around on the net and have seen rangers with 20's with a lowering kit so i dont understand how i cant lower my truck with 15's on it. Somebody please reply so i can talk to my step dad and be able to back up my idea.

The rim size doesn't matter, its the tire size. Those guys with 20's are going to be running low pros. If I had to guess I'd say your stock xl could take up to a...28" tire? I really am guessing but someone should be able to tell you.

Oh and yea I guess the rims matter some, what is the backspacing on them?

You'll be just fine if you don't run a bigger than stock tire. I doubt the rims he got you were much bigger than 15x8, so it'd take alot more than an inch of drop for you to rub.

Before you started to rub? I'd start with like a 2/3 drop and see how you like it. From there you could even go up to like a 5/7 if you thought you could get away with it. If this is your first lowered truck, I would take things slowly and begin to create a better understanding of how your suspension works in coordination with the other pieces and get a better handle for what you can and can't do. Knowledge and experience are the best tools you can have.

Only thing I can forsee, won;t it look funny with 3.25 backspacing, being lowered, since we all know the wheels are gonna stick out.

ya if your going for a lowered look the more desired thing is like a 17+ in wheels I think you might be better of selling these and getting something else you might be happier in the long run
