1999 ford ranger engine replacement need help
I’ve never pulled an engine before but going by the guide I’ve got everything but two bolts then I have the engine ready to pull. I have a 1999 ford ranger 2.5 and I’m replacing it with another 2.5l. It came out of an automatic based on everything I’ve looked up all I need to replace or swap for this to work is change the fly wheel and I think it’s either called a pilot or pallet shaft bearing. I’m going in blind so any tips would help.
An automatic trans needs a Flexplate bolted to the engine's crank shaft
A manual trans need a Flywheel bolted to the engine's crank shaft
The crank shaft itself is the same if both are 2.5l engines
Yes, a manual trans needs a Pilot bearing installed in the end of the crank shaft to support the end of the manual transmissions input shaft
There will be a hole for that in the crank shaft
Installed pilot bearing seen here: https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.for...fb1f06a6bc.jpg
It has the needle bearings that can be seen at center of crank shaft
