Clutch from hell

i replaced my clutch and slave cylinder over thanksgiving....truck shifts nice and smooth now.....BUT,

during the repair, everything was going smooth until i finally got everything apart and went to replace the pilot bearing in the crankshaft....
that little bastard would not come out!!

i used screwdrivers, chisels and even a small propane torch to heat it up,
it wouldn't budge.

after 5 hours (no joke) i finally decided to use my dremel and a small bit to cut at it, which finally got it out.

Are there any special tools or techniques i could have used to get that bearing out any quicker or more easily????

If the pilot bearing is the thing Im thinking of, My dad always told me you put a bunch of grease in and around it it, then you get something to put against it, hit it with a hammer and the grease pushes the bearing out.

I hope you can kinda get what Im saying, I cant remember exactly how he explained it.

use a puller?

my pilot bearing is pressed into the flywheel...idk about yours. I pulled the flywheels for machining, when i got it back, i used a socket and hammer to get the pilot out...install i also used a socket and hammer.

yea, a blind hole puller on a slide hammer works wonderfully for it. pops it right out.

Theres a lot of ways to use grease to remove the bearing, (Ive also heard of using wet newspaper), but this seems like the most sano. I used a slide hammer on mine, but this might have come in handy.
