ABS issue

Hey all,

Didn't know where else to post this. ABS light has been on for about 3 weeks now. It used to be intermittent, it'd go on and off occassionally, but now it's on all the time. Took it to a mechanic (Mr. Muffler to be exact) and had them look at it. First off, they had a helluva time finding the ABS connector to hook up the diagnostic tool, and then came and told me they couldn't figure out what was wrong/they cannot communicate with the computer and I'd have to take it to a Ford dealer to get it checked out. What do you guys think? I am really surprised they couldn't scan for a code...

If it's RABS you might try replacing the sensor on top of the rear axle.
Should be about $20, one 10 mm bolt, pop it out.

Ha. Mines been on for over a year now. I dont know how to check, but mine is on because of the sensor in the rearend. If you have money to throw at it, I would try that first. But honestly, I wouldnt worry about it.

Thanks for all the options, before I try any...here's an update:

Ok so i took it into another mechanic and this guy actually knew how to ground some cable under the dash to get a code from the computer...so anyways its a DTC12 Loss of flow to the ABS cycle or something like that, and they said it's practically "unfixable" due to parts not being made anymore, or even if there were aftermarket parts they would be hard to find and unless I want to pay $70/hr for them to tear it apart and figure out what is wrong, to just let it go.

What do you guys think I should do? I wasn't gonna pay for that to be done, but is there something I can do? Maybe replace a speed sensor or something?

If the truck is stopping fine i wouldn't worry about it. What i would do is take the gauge cluster out and remove the light bulb and then say oh look its fixed.
