RPM question...

2007 XLT 2.3 with automatic now at 26,000 miles, cleaned the K&N air filter and the throttle plate today, one question though? Is 1000 rpm's normal for that motor? Warmed up and in park and everything back together correctly and nothing else on and the rpm is just under the 1000 rpm hash mark.

Thanks,

at idle? cold motor? hot motor? your rpms will remain at high idle until up to temp and then drop. i think mine will hover around 800 when at a light

In park, warmed up and nothing else on (defrost/ac) just seemed high to me. I found the cam stop off the throttle linkage but it looks like its not meant to be adjusted by it.

Thanks,

thanks, it doesn't sound like its racing, its at about 850 when I got it in drive stopped at a red light.. Seems that it could do some damage to the trans being that high.

Mine sits at 900-950, no less. My previous one was a manual and it sat at 800. No wonder the MPG is way worse, it's idling it all away,
