dont know what this is

while me and kieth were lowering my truck i discovered this black rubbery ball in the engine compartment with 2 little hoses running out of it

anyone know what the hell this thing is?

Heater / air conditioner vaccum reservior.

Without that, your heater controls won't change from the Defrost position.
