I think the key sentence is "taking it real easy". Thats alot to tow over those distances and elevations.

Make sure you got good fluids in your truck and good brakes.

Why don't you tow it with something more capable? I'm not going to lie, that is going to be one hell of a long trip, its going to be very hard on your truck as well.

I have towed with the 2.5L, and after doing that a few times, I think its a terrible idea. Once I towed a BIG flat bed trailer that weighed probably 4k, I only had to go 15 miles down a state route though. I still hated it and felt uncomfortable. Likewise, I've also towed a small boat. I just don't feel comfortable towing with the 4 cylinders.

do you know what the towing capacity is of your truck is??? it around 1500 lbs that jeep weights way over that. there is no way your truck will pull it you will burn up your clutch or tranny and never be able to stop.

THIS IS NOT A SAFE TOW

Don't you always tow over the towing capacity? why don't you say that to yourself?

Max capacity for a 2003 Ranger 2wd extended cab with the manual 2.3 is 1480 lbs. I'm sure with the 2.5 in your truck it will be about the same capacity. A jeep is well over that but good luck with that.

my tow capactiy is way over 1500 lbs more like 4000k and when i tow im only over by a couple hundred lbs. the jeep alone weights 4000k plus the weight of the dolly of trailer will be a hell of alot more than a 4cly ranger can tow esp with a 5 speed

Actually since you have a manual your truck is only rated at about 3100lbs.

i think they weigh right under 4k. then you add on anything extra packed in there. either way, youre still overweight and its a safety issue big time.

4000lbs is 4000lbs flat towing or not. I wouldn't do it but that's just me.

Just remember. Manual Rangers can't tow much. A Dodge magnum has a higher towing capacity than any manual Ranger.

I wouldn't tow that jeep with the mazda. If you do it, just be really careful and keep a good distance if anyone is in front of you.
