Welcome to the forum
Always good to include the Year of the Ranger 1989? The starter relay post with the Positive battery cable has all the 12volt wires connected to it There will be a few Fusible Links on that post in 1989 A fusible link is like an in line fuse, its a shorter wire that connects battery voltage to vehicle devices The look like this: https://m.roadkillcustoms.com/wp-con...k-1024x504.jpg Or this: https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/...1000_QL80_.jpg They come in different colors and AMP ratings On a 1989 Ranger there is a Yellow wire that runs from that starter relay post to the ignition switch under steering column, that wire powers everything on with Key ON That yellow wire will have a fusible link between it and the starter relay post It "might" be an Orange fusible link Starter relay(battery positive post)--(fusible link)--//-----Yellow wire-----------------------------------------------------------------------ignition switch Fusible links are "slow blow" fuses but they can blow |
