215k on 94 2.3L with 5 speed and stock size all terrain tires. Getting around 25mpg or so highway at 65-70mph. Haven't checked it in a long time. Need to downshift to 4th gear fairly often. I don't expect much from 112hp though.

I have been daily driving my '98 2.5L since December, and I keep a log.
I record
  • Miles driven(Trip)
  • Gas price
  • Diesel price
  • Gallons to fill up

I fill the truck up the same way every time, when the pump stops, I fill it till it stops again, and then do that again.

Here's a screen shot of a little part of the spreadsheet I keep updated
Name: Mileage.jpg
Views: 207
Size: 16.7 KB

The amount saved is the amount I save by driving the 2.5L instead of driving the 7.3L. It is based of of the mileage my 7.3L Powerstroke gets in the winter time. The 2.5L gets terrible mileage when its cold, so does my 7.3, but the warmer the weather gets, the more my mileage goes up.

In order to calculate the amount saved I took the MPG my 2.5L and 7.3L got during the same week/same weather, in December. I made that my baseline, and plotted my 2.5L mileage on a scattergram. I predicted the 7.3L would follow the same curve based on weather, just at a lower level. That's not completely accurate, but oh well, it shouldn't be too far off either. When my 2.5L peaks at 23mpg that means my 7.3L is possibly up to 16.5mpg, which may not be too far off.

As you can tell, I'm up to 23mpg in April, which I'll credit to the significantly warmer weather we WERE having lol.

My '98 has had a tune up, and I keep the tires aired up to 40psi. It has 4.10's and a 31spline Level 2 rear end, with 31" A/T KO tires
My 97 7.3L also has had a tune up, tires are aired to 45psi. It has 4.10's and 35" KM2 tires

my 99 has 112k on it, and i've averaged around 27-28. I'd say 70% highway 30% dicking it around town. But i really only drive it to my hockey games or on the weekend, and take the bus to work every day.
