No power at all
I have a 1997 ford ranger, manual 5 speed. I changed the clutch and after that the transmission got stuck it turned out to be the clutch cylinder put a new one. I couldn't drive it because I am MA and wait for summer to come. Now I tried to start the engine but the truck has no power in any place no even the radio turn on. I checked the fuses and relay they are good clean the grounds change the starter solenoid and still no power. Replace the ignition switch not power at all. Please some suggestions thanks.

Battery cables |
Hi, Ron. I already change the battery cables, ignition switch and checked all the relay and nothing. do you think it might be the alternator?
|
No, for sure not alternator its has nothing to do with starting the engine
Battery positive should have TWO cables, larger one goes directly to starter motor, only used for starter The smaller one goes to Starter Relay on inner fender, connected to a larger post, this post POWERS THE WHOLE VEHICLE There should be several other wires on this post with the battery positive cable Another red one that runs to the engine fuse box, this wire powers ALL THE FUSES in the vehicle So no power any where has to be an issue at that post OR in the engine fuse box where that red wire connects Battery Negative cables, there is NO POSITIVE without Negative, thats how voltage works, there must be a "circuit", a circle, so 12volts can't flow unless there is negative volts to flow TO, called "a ground" in vehicles So the Negative battery post should have at least 3 sometime 4 wires Larger one should run to the engine, usually to a starter motor bolt that holds the starter to the engine, to give it a good "ground"(negative battery terminal) connection Then smaller wires to rad support, inner fender and to Frame of vehicle |
Hi, Ron. I found out the problem the cable you said, I thought it was a ground, so I connected to the solenoid and the whole truck works. Thank you for the information about my problem. This forum is very helpful for ford owners.
