Volvo Head Conversion for 2.3L OHC Ford
#7
the turbo and n/a 2.3 lima blocks are identical, the ONLY difference in them is the turbo has forged pistons and a drilled and tapped port for the oil return.
the volvo head idea has been around for quite some time, and is rarely if ever completed do to the EXTENSIVE amount of fabrication required to get it to bolt onto the ford block. what it does however is make the engine breath much much better as the lima head is a very restrictive design. the volvo head being DOHC adds 2 more valves to each cylinder and is designed to flow much better with better designed intake and exhaust ports and better valve geometry. but as you can see in that picture posted one of the many things that needs to be done is that large chunk of aluminum welded onto the back of the volvo head to extend it to the proper length.
