Positive traction is a name for a limited slip differential. It's a traction-aid device that can work in one of several ways. Most use some sort of friction pad/clutch device, though some use viscous fluids or binding gears to transfer torque between the wheels.

This covers differentials in general, but also has a section on limited slip/positraction differentials.
