I pulled my motor and tranny today! Lot's of Pics!
To make a long story short: My Ranger was starting to leak fluids all over soooooo bad that I could'nt park anywhere for 5 seconds without leaving a permanent mark on someones driveway. Then my tranny started going out 2/3 weeks ago so I bought a new one last week and decided to pull both the motor and trans to replace the tranny and address the oil leaks. Here's some pics from today:

I almost thought I was going to have to remove my wheels/tires because it barely cleared the front clip. The last pic is how it's sitting right now. Guess I'll be at AutoZone tommorow buying degreaser. Sure wish I had a pressure washer because this thing is filthy, greasy, oily, ugly.....lol. Any suggestions on degreasing? Thanks.

I just called two of my buddy's and one of them has a brand new power washer. I felt bad asking him to use it since it was new but he said I could. Hopefully I can get it tomorrow and make short work of this. Even my engine bay needs to be cleaned.

I'd recommend scrubbing everything with a wire brush, or chucking a wire-wheel brush into a rotary tool. My engine compartment looked nasty before I dropped the 5.0 in. However, I cleaned it up, and covered everything with a 3 layers of rubberized undercoating and POR15. Here's a before/after. Disregard the heat shield over the fuel lines on the right side of the after pic. It's for the 5.0 swap.

I just borrowed a "brand new, never been used" pressure washer from my buddy and the stupid hose touched the exhaust and had a big leaking hole in it. I tried to repair it with hose clamps and a barbed metal tube but it did'nt work. Please tell me I don't need to buy a new hose.

Thanks Needforspeed! I just went to a hose supply company and 15 bucks and 15 minutes later she was fixed. Here's some updates on what I got done today: THERE'S A LOOOOOOT OF CLEANING GOING ON CAUSE SHE'S A FILTHY, DIRTY, NASTY GIRL!!!!:

The little "Blue Oval" on the engine stand begging to be cleaned! Man, my Ranger is dirty. I'm amazed how dirty it actually is. I've neglected it far too long as these next pics will show.

Kind of busy today with doctor's office, kids in school, other small chores but still made good headway on the tranny swap/engine cleanup. I found a complete "lower engine gasket set" at AutoZone for $20.99 so I went to Kragen so they would price match it and beat it by 5%..hahaha. It includes every gasket/seal for the bottom end: oil pan gasket, front &rear main seals, oil pump seal & o-ring, that funny aux. cover above the oil pan in front, ans an o-ring for the oil pump pickup tube. Score for under 20 bucks! Had to be ordered though so I can pick it up tomorrow after 2:00pm.

New intake manifold gaskets I've had laying around.

Have a whole roll of NAPA gasket material for the smaller items like EGR, throttle body, and what not. I even bought a set of the hollow punches to make the gasket holes perfect.

yea, it might just be a local thing caus iv been up to PA a few times with my cousins and iv never seen it anywere up their. But if you ever see it anywere to order it, its worth every penny.

Getting the brand new rubbery gaskets in and the front seal. Looks like I'm going to have to hold the engine up with the cherry picker while I remove and install the new rear seal because the engine stand is in the way of me doing it. Oh well!

This is just a "FYI" for anyone changing an oil pan gasket on a 2.3 or a 2.5 engine. If you don't put silicone in these areas "IT WILL LEAK"! I'm letting it sit up for a few while I post up these pics then I'm back at it for a little bit.
