Problem with 2.3l DOHC can not get harmonic balancer off
I've never had this much trouble with a single bolt in my life. I can not get the nut to let go tried the books way that's not happening . Balancer holder didn't help just rounded the 1/2 drive hole. Any ideas other than cutting torch.

The timing pulley is fastened at over 200 lb-ft of torque.
Trust me when I say, its on there If the engine is out of the truck, use a flywheel holder, or put two bolts in the rear of the crank, a wrench on one bolt, and against the other one. Use the engine stand to hold the wrench. Or get someone with a high breakaway impact gun, like a Milwaukee FUEL or a Hitachi. |

Drive impact ( old school electric) heavy duty on it and nothing. I even tried running it both ways hoping to maybe break it loose that way, no luck. Put a file at back of the cams, to lock them in place, now I have 3 small files. Thinking about sawz-all or a real big pipe wrench on the pulley, and just hoping for the best. |
