Nothing should be speed limited at 70. My god, you'd get rammed off the road in CT!

12 year old 4 cylinder - but you should go faster than 70
check fuel, spark and air intake and exaust
look for problems, any one of the above out of wack would cause power loss

go to Auto Zone and they will hook into the OBD and tell you what the code means, free of charge

yeh... even my old 88 4 banger 5 speed went quicker than 70... maybe 80... lol. but when i got it.. i cleaned the engine, it ran faster and smoother. then i changed the spark plugs and wires, ran faster and smoother. other basic maintanence(sp?)// oil change, new air filter, added tranny fluid.. as a result... the truck did run MUCH better and could definitely run without dying. lol. thats all i know to do. probably wasnt much help

My 95 5 speed 4 banger has a speed limiter at 100 MPH. Usually you have to downshift to 4th to get there though.

There is nothing wrong with it, 92 is the speed governor.

Do these-
Plugs (8)
Wires
fuel filter
air filter
synthetic rear end

Should run good after that.

Mine dosent go much over 90 on GPS or my radar gun.
You really shouldnt go past 80 in them, too unstable and the tires arent meant for it.

all i can say is a repeat clean the engine, check spark. i have a 96 ranger and it does 100 before the limiter kicks in.

yea, the older ones are actually limited at 105... hit it once or twice in my truck, it was a scary experiance. even with the larger tires and everyting on my 300K mile engine i can still cruise at 85 comfortably. the biggest thing is a good tune up. i would recommend the autolite double platinum plugs, as thats whats in there from the factory and after trying a few different plugs in mine those are what run the best and last the longest. most brands of plugs my truck woudl eat up in 20-40K miles, the autolite double platinums last a good 100K miles, which is important because until you get the hang of changing them the plugs can kind of be a pain. but have the code read, and where the vehicle is newer to you, a full tune up is always a good thing to do to know exactly what condition everything is in and when things were last changed.

also, how many miles does it have on it? the timing belt on that is recommended to be changed every 100K miles so if its been much over that the belt can kind of stretch a tad and the timing can slip a little off.
