Exhaust questions...
I want to leave the stock muffler but make the truck louder. Someone said cut the piping off like a few inches past the muffler. I was planning on just adding a Flowmaster 40 Series too it, but someone said that would just make it quiter with the stock muffler. Any suggestions?

A muffler does just that...it muffles the noise. Adding an additional muffler will make the truck quieter and restrict the exhaust more. I don't see where you would put one anyway.
Cutting the pipe won't do much either.
I'd just have a new muffler put in place of the stock one. It won't hurt anything, and assuming you leave the cat and O2 sensors alone, it won't cause the truck to fail emissions or anything.

I just think he should know the legality of gutting the cat. Maybe someone doesn't want to do something that they could be fined thousands for. Yeah, I know "you probably won't get caught," but it's still illegal and pretty pointless.
In many places a vehicle will fail a state inspection if there is no muffler or it is damaged...so depending on where you live it might be illegal, but like I said, not nearly as illegal as gutting the cat (a federal offense).
