blown 2.3

so i guess i blew my 2.3. i was turning the corner and it mad a loud clanking noise and i pulled over and it turned off. i tried to start it and couldnt. i got it towed and the diagnostic was that 2 rods came off the crank shaft...ive been looking for prices and info on engines and labor..best i can find was $2400 for and engine put in. ford wanted that much just for the engine itself. and another guy quoted me between $3000 and $6000 for another engine put in...help me.....

for 2500 buck i would just say goodbye to the ranger and get another one.hopefully your not paying on it.how many miles were on your motor?unless there was some super reason for keeping it i would say goodbye, but i get bored driving the same thing after a few years.

Get a cheap low miles one and drop it in yourself? That cant be more than a grand can it? I was looking at v6 4.0's just for curiosity and they were only 8-9 hundred. They all had 30-60,000 miles on em though.

I vote rebuild it. In my previous ranger, i spun two rod bearings in my 2.5L. rebuild the entire engine for under $400.
