02 sensor placement

I’m a backyard mechanic trying to sort out the 02 sensors on my 2001 3.0. I thought I replaced bank 1 sensor and the truck runs worse. I found out I mistakenly replaced bank 2. Im trying to find out if these are the same sensor. My local parts store couldn’t tell me the difference between upstream and downstream so I’m not 100% sure they gave me the correct part. I would rather replace bank 1 and leave the other new sensor in bank 2 so they are both new. Does anybody know if these are the same on both sides?

Yes, they are the same, only difference is if there is one is the length of the wire.

Bank 1 is passenger side.

Supercab is right, for o2 sensors the main variance is the length of the wires.

If it helps you, here are the 3 sensors I did this week on my 04 3.0L.
  • 2x Denso DEN 234-4401 in position 1 on both banks
  • 1x NGK 22500 for the downstream on B1S2

Best,
RT

I did a write up when I changed mine on my 2003 3.0L with Bosch O2 sensors, you can look that up via a search. Hope it helps you or anyone else.

A Bosch 15719 with 24i00 0m610 Long Cable+Plug is good to replace any Ford 4WireNarrowBand Sensor.
Use CableTies to route+secure wiring as needed for GroundClearance & away from HotExhaust+MovingParts.
