03 Taurus 3.0 Swap in my 2000 Ranger

I just finished swapping my 267,000 mile 3.0 Vulcan with an 03 Taurus Vulcan with 53,000 miles. MAJOR work as everything had to be swapped, even the head gaskets. I replaced all the gaskets and seals and so far it seems as good as new. I paid $800.00 for the engine and put another $300.00 in misc. parts in it. If I can get another 250,000 miles out of it I'll be happy. The original engine had a cracked head due to a worn water pump impeller. I considered a V8 swap but since it's my daily driver I decided to go back stock. I could not find a decent donor for this model truck so if you can find 3.0 Vulcan Taurus and don't mind swapping over everything this is as good an option as any. If you have any questions about it just ask.

The closest remanufactured engine I found in my area was $1800.00 and I got a discount price through work. The truck is not valued much more than that so I hit the scrap yards.

why stick with 3.0 though? why not go to 4.0? wouldnt of been much more work, and you get a better motor.

Well let's see 1- the computer 2- the exhaust 3- the A/C system 4- familiarity with existing components 5- it keeps it stock which makes it easier at the parts counter. I considered it when I could not find a 3.0 but it wouldn't save any time or money and if I was going to go through that much trouble I would go V8. I wsh now I had went that way but this is my daily driver so I'll put that money in the rock crawlin' CJ and enjoy it there.
